This experienced Mechanical Designer transforms product concepts into production-ready models and drawings for fabricated steel structures, garden-centre fixtures, carts, and shade systems. You will develop components, weld assemblies, sheet-metal designs, and detailed fabrication documentation. The work also includes structural layouts, load considerations, material takeoffs, cost estimates, ERP records, and production support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop parts from concept through SolidWorks modelling and production release
- Create weld assemblies, sheet-metal designs, and 2D fabrication drawings
- Prepare structural layouts, dimensions, tolerances, cut lists, and bills of material
- Conduct structural calculations and stress testing for load capacities
- Support production, installation, quoting, prototypes, and technical troubleshooting
Requirements:
- Five years of technical design experience in manufacturing or fabrication
- Hands-on costing and structural design or detailing experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or a similar modelling tool
- Experience with fabricated steel or aluminum structures and connections
- Diploma or degree in mechanical, civil, or engineering design technology
