Become an ASL Communication Facilitator at Loyalist College, enhancing interactions between Deaf and hearing individuals. Your skills will support students and staff in achieving effective communication across the college.
This role includes providing interpreting services in various educational contexts, ensuring that all participants have access to necessary resources. You'll be tasked with preparing for assignments and collaborating with educators to ensure effective interpreting strategies are in place. This is an opportunity to make an impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide ASL and English interpretation services
• Facilitate student participation in academic environments
• Prepare for interpreting by researching resources
• Collaborate with faculty on interpreting strategies
• Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
• Degree in ASL Interpreter Training or equivalent
• Three years of professional interpreting experience
• Previous experience in a post-secondary setting
• Competency with software tools like Zoom and MS Teams
• Knowledge of interpreting best practices and Deaf culture Leverage your interpreting skills to foster inclusive education and support diverse student needs at Loyalist College.
