1.0 FTE (term) Gr 3/4 Classroom teacher, South Nelson Elementary

School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is hiring a full-time, 1.0 FTE Grade 3/4 Classroom Teacher at South Nelson Elementary School in Nelson, BC. The term ends December 18, 2026, or upon the incumbent's return, whichever comes first.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education and elementary classroom experience.
• Valid BC teaching certificate, or eligibility to be certified by the assignment start date.
• Recent successful experience in an elementary multigrade setting.
• Knowledge of positive behavioural interventions, trauma-informed practices, inclusion, class profiles, and universal design strategies.
• Knowledge of the BC Education Plan, current instructional practices, and curriculum.
• Ability to use data to inform decisions and work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and community members.

Responsibilities

• Teach a Grade 3/4 classroom and use technology to support student learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues and communicate with staff and parents.
• Implement school-wide strategies to support student needs.
• Use authentic assessment strategies and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Engage students in meaningful community service and contribute to school and district initiatives.

Compensation

$68,589-114,833 per year, based on qualifications and teaching experience as evaluated by the BC Teacher Qualification Service.
