Plan resident activation programs with Extendicare as a casual Recreation Aide, using assessed needs, communication, and documentation skills. Part-time hours are assigned.
This Recreation Aide position supports individual and group programs in a long-term care home. You will plan, implement, and evaluate activities for well residents and residents with cognitive impairments. The position also involves resident transportation, program records, and communication with registered staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan activation programs based on assessed resident needs
- Implement and evaluate individual and group programs
- Prepare activity areas and transport residents to programs
- Monitor resident behaviour and condition during programs
- Maintain records and communicate participation to registered staff
Requirements:
- Post-secondary recreation, therapeutic recreation, or related education
- Strong written, verbal, and documentation skills
- Experience planning programs for cognitively impaired residents
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Knowledge of geriatric populations and cognitive impairments
