Surgical education expertise meets instructional support at McGill University for EXSU 603. This in-person Teaching Assistant assignment is based at The Montreal General Hospital.
The Teaching Assistant supports Surgical Education Foundations through grading, research summaries, lecture preparation, and team-based learning activities. The course examines educational theories, assessment principles, and learning environments relevant to surgical education. Current McGill master's or doctoral students are eligible, with preference for Surgical and Interventional Sciences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grade student journals fairly and provide constructive feedback
- Identify and summarize pertinent research articles and online resources
- Help update course materials and prepare lectures for re-recording
- Support readiness tests, group exercises, and student presentations
- Attend in-person classes as course needs require
Requirements:
- Current McGill master's or doctoral student status
- Experience with grading or health professions education
- Knowledge of simulation-based education or educational research methods
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with myCourses, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and presentation software
