Design reliable backend systems with Python or Go at Tucows Domains, working remotely from Canada on APIs, databases, and production software.
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will build and maintain services supporting Tucows Domains products. This hands-on individual contributor role provides technical direction across multiple systems while coordinating delivery with Product, Operations, and engineering teams. You will solve complex problems and share knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain secure backend systems
- Provide technical direction across applications and services
- Design APIs, database schemas, integrations, and data contracts
- Debug production issues and lead incident responses
- Mentor engineers and maintain technical documentation
Requirements:
- Six or more years of backend engineering experience
- Strong Python, Go, or similar language experience
- RESTful API experience with FastAPI, Gin, or similar frameworks
- Relational database experience, preferably PostgreSQL
- Remote distributed-team experience and strong collaboration skills
