In person, at residential and commercial jobsites About the Position NT Painting & Decoration Inc. is a Winnipeg-based construction company specializing in residential and commercial painting, drywall finishing, renovations, and restoration projects. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Drywall Installer / Taper / Finisher to join our team. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of professional, hands-on experience in drywall installation, taping, mudding, sanding, and finishing, with the ability to deliver smooth, high-quality, paint-ready surfaces. This position requires practical experience in both drywall boarding and finishing. We are looking for someone who can independently perform assigned drywall work, maintain high workmanship standards, and complete projects efficiently with minimal supervision. This is an experienced tradesperson position, not an entry-level drywall labourer role.

Key Responsibilities

- Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces according to project specifications.
- Secure drywall panels to wood or metal framing using appropriate installation methods.
- Apply drywall tape and joint compound to seams, joints, corners, fastener heads, and surface imperfections.
- Complete multiple coats of mudding, sanding, and finishing to achieve smooth, consistent, paint-ready surfaces.
- Install and finish corner beads, including inside and outside corners.
- Perform drywall patching, repairs, and restoration work, blending repaired areas with existing surfaces.
- Identify and correct drywall imperfections, uneven joints, visible seams, and finishing deficiencies.
- Use professional drywall tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions.
- Coordinate with painters, supervisors, and other trades to ensure projects progress efficiently.
- Protect surrounding surfaces and maintain clean, safe, and organized worksites.
- Provide daily work progress updates using company reporting procedures.
- Complete assigned tasks within established project schedules while maintaining quality standards. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience performing drywall installation, taping, and finishing.
- Proven hands-on experience in both drywall boarding and finishing on residential and/or commercial construction projects.
- Strong proficiency in taping, mudding, sanding, corner finishing, and surface preparation.
- Ability to produce smooth, professional-quality, paint-ready drywall finishes.
- Experience using professional drywall installation and finishing tools.
- Ability to independently complete assigned drywall installation and finishing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to identify, correct, and prevent common drywall installation and finishing defects.
- Understanding of construction site safety practices and safe equipment operation.
- Ability to perform essential physical job duties, including handling drywall materials, working on ladders or scaffolding, and performing repetitive tasks, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
- Ability to understand work instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Reliability, attention to detail, time management, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada. Additional Experience Considered an Asset
- Drywall boarding and installation, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and securing drywall sheets.
- Experience with automatic taping and finishing equipment.
- Drywall restoration and repair following water or property damage.
- Experience producing Level 4 or Level 5 drywall finishes.
- Painting and surface preparation.
- Metal stud framing and light carpentry.
- Reading construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience using mobile applications for jobsite reporting.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to jobsites.
