The Role
Lecker & Associates is growing, and we are looking for an Associate to join our employment law team. You will work on a varied caseload, with a focus on representing employees in matters such as wrongful and constructive dismissal, severance negotiations, terminations for cause, and workplace disputes. You'll work directly with clients from their first call through to resolution, whether that means negotiating a settlement or taking a matter to litigation.
We are seeking an Associate with 5 to 10 years of experience. Promising candidates with 2 to 5 years of experience will also be considered. Salary will be negotiated based on experience.
You will have the support of a collaborative team and the opportunity to take on meaningful work early. Newer lawyers will be paired with a “buddy “ who can answer questions, share knowledge, and help them settle in.
What You'll Do
• Manage your own caseload of employment law files from intake to resolution, with the support of a dedicated law clerk
• Review employment contracts, termination letters, and severance packages, and advise clients on their options
• Negotiate with employers and opposing counsel to reach fair outcomes for clients
• Draft demand letters, pleadings, and other legal documents
• Represent clients in mediations and, where needed, court proceedings
• You will not be responsible for Billing or collection What We're Looking For
• Called to the Ontario bar
• 5 to 10 years of experience (2 to 5 years considered for the right candidate)
• Employment or litigation background
• Experience with or interest in Disability Litigation
• Interest in Employer side litigation and commercial drafting ( optional)

• Salary of $175K, negotiated based on experience
• Commission and bonus BASED ON % of billed fees
• Automatic pay increase based on quarterly results
