EVORETRO is a fast-growing consumer products company expanding across Canada, the U.
S., Europe, and international markets. As we continue to scale our distribution network, product portfolio, inventory, and international operations, we are looking for a hands-on Director of Finance & Strategic Planning to lead our finance function and help structure the next stage of our growth. This is not a traditional accounting-only role. We are looking for a CPA who wants to be close to the business — someone who can understand the numbers, challenge assumptions, improve profitability, protect cash flow, strengthen financial controls, and help management make better decisions. Reporting closely to the CEO and working with the leadership team, this person will lead and develop our internal finance team and collaborate with banks, accountants, tax specialists, government partners, and other external advisors. The Role As Director of Finance & Strategic Planning, you will be a key financial partner to the CEO and leadership team. You will lead a finance team of approximately three people across accounting, bookkeeping, controllership, and financial analysis. Your role will be to bring structure, visibility, discipline, and strong financial judgment to a rapidly growing international business. You will help management answer important questions such as:
• Where are we generating the strongest margins?
• Where are we losing profitability?
• How much inventory should we purchase?
• How much working capital do we need?
• How do we improve cash flow?
• Where should we invest?
• Which customers, products, countries, and channels are the most profitable?
• What are the financial risks of a new warehouse, 3PL, market, or expansion project?
• How should we structure pricing and customer programs?
• How should we finance continued growth?
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
• Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial planning
• Maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts and proactively identify liquidity requirements
• Prepare financial dashboards and management reports for the CEO and leadership team
• Analyze actual performance versus budget and forecast
• Identify financial trends, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring management attention
• Build financial models to support strategic and operational decisions
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations for leadership and EOS meetings Profitability & Commercial Finance
• Analyze profitability by product, SKU, customer, channel, country, and project
• Support pricing strategy and margin optimization
• Maintain strong governance around official price lists
• Review discounts, rebates, customer programs, and commercial terms
• Review private-label and special-project quotations
• Support financial analysis for large customer opportunities and distributor programs
• Identify margin leakage, unprofitable activities, and cost-saving opportunities
• Help management improve overall gross margin and operating profitability Cash Flow & Working Capital
• Monitor and optimize working capital
• Oversee financial analysis related to inventory purchasing and purchasing commitments
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable performance
• Help improve inventory turns and reduce excess or slow-moving inventory
• Support purchasing decisions with cash-flow and profitability analysis
• Monitor payment terms, customer credit exposure, and supplier commitments
• Support foreign exchange and cash-management decisions
• Proactively identify future financing requirements Finance Team Leadership
• Lead, structure, and develop EVORETRO’s internal finance team
• Establish clear responsibilities, accountability, and reporting standards
• Oversee the quality and timeliness of financial reporting
• Strengthen month-end and year-end processes
• Develop stronger financial procedures and internal controls
• Support professional development within the finance team
• Ensure management receives accurate, timely, and decision-useful financial information Controls, Compliance & Governance
• Establish and improve financial controls, policies, and approval processes
• Strengthen governance around purchasing, pricing, discounts, payments, and major expenditures
• Coordinate Canadian and U.
S. tax matters with external tax specialists
• Support analysis related to U.
S. sales tax, nexus, and corporate structure
• Work closely with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
• Ensure appropriate financial documentation and compliance processes are maintained
• Support annual financial statements, tax filings, and other reporting requirements
• Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions Banking, Financing & External Partners
• Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions
• Support financing activities and credit facility management
• Prepare financial information required by lenders and financial partners
• Support negotiations related to loans, credit facilities, foreign exchange, and other banking services
• Coordinate with accountants, tax specialists, government agencies, and other external advisors
• Identify and evaluate grants, tax credits, and government programs Strategic Growth & Investment Analysis
• Evaluate the financial impact of new warehouses, 3PLs, and logistics partners
• Analyze international expansion opportunities
• Review major capital investments and strategic projects
• Build ROI and payback analyses
• Support decisions related to new countries, channels, product categories, and business initiatives
• Evaluate the financial implications of growth opportunities before commitments are made
• Support management with capital allocation decisions Qualifications & Requirements
• CPA designation required
• 7+ years of relevant finance experience
• Previous experience managing or leading a finance/accounting team
• Strong background in FP&A, controllership, commercial finance, or a combination of these areas
• Strong understanding of cash flow, profitability, margins, working capital, and financial controls
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
• Strong analytical and business decision-making abilities
• Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business insights and recommendations
• Comfortable working in both a strategic and hands-on capacity
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to operate in a fast-growing environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Comfortable challenging assumptions when appropriate
• Experience working closely with senior leadership
