Role Description The Director of Finance and Accounting is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, with flexibility for some work from home. This role oversees financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation and review of financial statements and reports. The Director will manage accounting operations, ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and optimize internal controls and financial processes. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring a finance and accounting team, providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making, partnering with leadership on growth initiatives, and leveraging data and technology to improve efficiency and financial visibility. The Director will also communicate financial performance and risks to stakeholders and contribute to long-term financial strategy and governance. Qualifications
• Strong expertise in Finance and Financial Planning, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis.
• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated Analytical Skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data to provide clear, actionable insights.
• Proven leadership experience managing finance and accounting teams, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
• Advanced skills with financial systems, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools; experience with AI-driven or automated finance platforms is an asset.
• Solid understanding of internal controls, audit processes, risk management, and best practices in corporate governance.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders and build strong cross-functional relationships.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred.
• QBO experience is a must
• Project based accounting is a plus
