Hairstyling Mentor| $23–$30 per hour | Calgary, AB – CORE Shopping Centre | Full-Time
Are you an experienced hairstylist who enjoys helping others develop their skills? Ready to take your industry experience and use it to train the next generation of hairstylists?
NIWE Academy is looking for a Hairstyling Mentor to join its Calgary team, supporting both diploma and apprenticeship students as they build the technical skills, confidence and professionalism needed for a successful career.
About NIWE Academy
Since 2012, NIWE Academy has trained more than 3,500 graduates across hairstyling, barbering, esthetics and wellness. We are a licensed private career college and the only AIT-approved apprenticeship hairstyling provider in Southern Alberta.
The Role
You’ll deliver practical and theory-based training across the Hairstyling Diploma and AIT Apprenticeship programs, helping students progress from the classroom into employment.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Delivering practical and theory hairstyling instruction
• Coaching students on technical skills, professional conduct and career readiness
• Supervising student clinic services and maintaining a positive guest experience
• Providing clear, constructive feedback
• Keeping attendance, grades and student records accurate and up to date
• Working with Academy leadership to keep training aligned with industry trends What We’re Looking For You’ll be confident, organized and approachable, with a genuine interest in helping students succeed. You will need:
• Alberta Journeyperson Hairstylist Certificate or Red Seal endorsement
• 3+ years of professional hairstyling experience
• Previous teaching, training or mentoring experience, either formally or in-salon
• Strong English communication skills Experience training apprentices, an adult education qualification or experience using an LMS such as D2L would be an advantage.
