Client: Leading Canadian P&C Insurance Organization Technology Environment: Guidewire, Playwright, TypeScript Job summary: We are seeking a Test Automation Architect to define, design, and govern enterprise-scale automation solutions. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in TypeScript, Playwright, and Helenium, along with Prompt Engineering capabilities to leverage AI-driven testing and productivity use cases. The candidate must also demonstrate excellent stakeholder communication skills to drive automation strategy and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Automation Architecture & Strategy
• 10-12 years of experience in Test Automation and a minimum of 3 years on Microsoft Playwright automation tool.
• Own and define end-to-end test automation architecture across web and desktop applications.
• Design scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks using Playwright with TypeScript.
• Define automation standards, best practices, coding guidelines, and governance models.
• Evaluate applications and recommend tools, frameworks, and AI-assisted automation approaches. Hands-on Automation Development
• Develop and enhance TypeScript-based automation frameworks using strong object-oriented and modular design principles.
• Build and maintain Playwright automation frameworks for modern web applications.
• Create reusable automation components, fixtures, utilities, and libraries.
• Implement reliable locator strategies, synchronization, error handling, and reporting.
• Enable parallel and distributed execution to optimize execution cycles. AI & Prompt Engineering
• Apply Prompt Engineering techniques to improve test design, test-data generation, defect analysis, and automation productivity.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools for test-case generation, exploratory testing support, and automation optimization.
• Validate AI-generated tests and automation code for accuracy, coverage, maintainability, and compliance with framework standards.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate AI-driven testing approaches into existing automation frameworks. CI/CD & Tool Integration
• Integrate automation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.
• Enable automated test execution, reporting, and defect traceability.
• Support environment-based, parallel, and scheduled execution.
• Track automation metrics, execution stability, maintenance effort, and ROI. Stakeholder Communication & Leadership
• Act as the automation subject-matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and business teams.
• Clearly communicate automation strategy, progress, risks, dependencies, and value to senior leadership.
• Support estimation, planning, solutioning, and proposal preparation for automation initiatives. Mentoring & Governance
• Mentor automation engineers and guide teams on framework usage and best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce TypeScript, Playwright, and automation quality standards.
• Govern automation implementation and execution across projects to ensure consistency and quality. Mandatory

Must Have
• TypeScript: Mandatory
• Strong hands-on experience in TypeScript, including types, interfaces, classes, modules, promises, asynchronous programming, error handling, and reusable framework development.
• Playwright: Mandatory
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining Playwright frameworks using TypeScript, including fixtures, hooks, locators, assertions, browser contexts, storage state, tracing, retries, reporting, parallel execution, and sharding.
• Test Automation Framework Design
• Experience designing custom, hybrid, modular, and enterprise-scale automation frameworks.
• Helenium
• Experience with self-healing automation concepts, dynamic locator recovery, and integration with existing automation frameworks.
• Prompt Engineering
• Experience applying structured prompts to test design, test-data generation, defect analysis, automation development, and quality-engineering use cases.
• Experience creating reusable automation components, utilities, fixtures, libraries, and reporting solutions.
• Experience enabling parallel and distributed test execution.
• CI/CD integration experience with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.
• Test strategy, test planning, automation estimation, and automation-candidate identification.
• Strong stakeholder communication and presentation skills. Nice to Have
• API automation experience for REST services.
• Insurance domain experience, including exposure to quote, policy, billing, claims, renewals, or endorsements.
• RAG knowledge, including document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search, retrieval relevance, groundedness, and hallucination testing.
• Exposure to GenAI and LLM application testing.
• Performance or other non-functional testing exposure.
• Agile and DevOps delivery experience.
• Enterprise-scale or multi-application automation experience.
• Docker or cloud-based test-execution exposure.
