Toronto, ON Type: FTE Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer with AI experience to join the FIC Global Spread Products eTrading Technology team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a next-generation electronic trading and algorithmic trading platform supporting high-performance, low-latency financial markets. This role requires strong hands-on experience in server-side Java, multithreading, messaging, event processing, distributed caching, relational databases, and low-latency application design. Experience applying Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Generative AI to trading, market data, analytics, automation, or software engineering is highly desirable. Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience developing server-side applications in Java.
• Strong expertise in:
• Core Java and Java Collections API
• Java Concurrency and multithreading
• Reactive programming and Rx Streams
• Asynchronous and event-driven application design
• Messaging and event processing across multiple streams
• Distributed caching, preferably GridGain/Ignite
• 5+ years of experience developing multicast messaging solutions.
• 5+ years of experience working with relational databases, including SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, or equivalent technologies.
• 5+ years of experience designing low-latency trading application services.
• Strong understanding of performance tuning, memory management, garbage collection, profiling, and latency optimization.
• 5+ years of experience with DevOps and build/release tools, such as:
• Maven
• Jenkins
• Nexus
• Helios or similar deployment platforms
• Practical experience with distributed systems, fault tolerance, resiliency, and high availability.
• Demonstrated experience with technical design, system integration, and production support.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, Generative AI, or AI-assisted software engineering, including familiarity with APIs, model integration, data pipelines, or machine-learning workflows.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, global team environment.
• Demonstrated reliability, ownership, dedication, and a proactive approach to delivery.
