CHIMO: Where What You Do Matters for A Lifetime.
FT and Casual Includes some evenings and some Saturdays
Can you hold a room, make people feel welcome, and help with a housing application at the drop-in help desk, all in the same afternoon?
Leaving care at 18 often means facing rent, jobs, bills and loneliness all at once. Chimo's new Youth in Transition (YIT) Program is a place young adults aged 18 to 24 can come for the skills, information and people that make it easier. We're looking for Program Facilitators to make it a place they want to come back to.
Think of the program as a weekly menu of drop-in sessions: a hands-on housing application walkthrough, an honest conversation about substance use and harm reduction, a workshop on healthy relationships and boundaries, practice job interviews, a tax clinic, a ribbon skirt circle. There's food at every session and a help desk six days a week. We open in December.
What you'll do
• Plan and lead group sessions young adults actually want to come to
• Welcome people at the door, share food, and check in
• Staff the help desk: forms, phone calls, applications, next steps
• Become the team's Champion in one area: housing, employment and education, financial literacy, health and wellness, or culture and identity What you bring
• A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related human services field
• At least a year of leading groups, workshops or programs with youth or young adults
• Warmth, steadiness, and a sense of humour
• Lived experience of care or of the transition to adulthood? That's an asset here. Good to know: You'll need clear Intervention Record and Police Information (Vulnerable Sector) checks. We provide the training you'll need before you start working with young adults. Driving is an asset, not a requirement. We believe in supporting the people who make a difference every day. As a member of our team, you'll enjoy:
• Membership on a supportive team of skilled and passionate professionals dedicated to helping children, youth, and families reach their greatest potential.
• Paid vacation starting at twelve (15) days per year.
• Paid sick and wellness leave equivalent to eight (10) days per year.
• Comprehensive health benefits following the successful completion of the 3-month probationary period.
• Dental coverage after one (1) year of employment.
• A Health Spending Account (HSA) to help cover eligible health-related expenses after the probationary period.
• Access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), offering confidential counselling and wellness resources for employees and their immediate families.
• Opportunities for ongoing professional development, training, and career growth.
• Invitations to agency events, training and development, staff appreciation activities, celebrations.
• A collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven workplace where your leadership and contributions make a meaningful impact every day. Job opening remains until suitable applicant is found.
