ROLE The Emergency Department (ED) Technician is a member of the emergency department team and is responsible and accountable for assisting ED nurses, physicians and hospital staff in supporting care of patients and flow of the fast-paced ED in Stratford. This role will be specifically involved in supporting orthopaedic patients in the ED, as well as involvement in various housekeeping and portering duties, and other tasks aimed to support overall flow in the ED. REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
• Minimum of Grade 12 education
• Completion of an Orthopaedic Technician training program from a hospital/community college
• Aseptic Technique / IPAC education
• Basic Life Support certificate
• First Aid Course REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
• Mature, self-directed, with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work with people and other members of the health care team
• Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize responsibilities
• Evidence of commitment to continuing education and development DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
• Member of the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (preferred)
