Manager, Research
Full-Time
This job posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.
It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to broadly provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. TI has over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services. By incorporating the principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ), TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.
This position is responsible for leading and coordinating all research activities at TI. This role ensures that research is carried out with cultural safety, methodological rigor, and in alignment with Inuit values and priorities. The Manager will oversee the research team, manage partnerships, and ensure that data collection, analysis, and reporting are conducted ethically and effectively to advance Inuit health and wellness.
The primary responsibility of the Manager, Research is to lead TI’s work on the Qanuippitaa? National Inuit Health Survey (QNIHS) from 2024–2029. The QNIHS provides high-quality, Inuit-determined, and Inuit-owned data to monitor change, identify gaps, and inform decision-making, ultimately contributing to improved health and wellness among Inuit in Canada. Supporting Inuit self-determination in setting the research agenda, building capacity in Inuit communities to develop and collect survey information, and addressing the unique challenges of urban Inuit are central to creating a permanent National Inuit Health Survey.
The knowledge and data gathered through the QNIHS will also serve as a foundation for TI to engage more fully in the broader scope of health research in Ontario. By strengthening Inuit-led evidence and capacity, TI will be positioned to influence provincial and national health research priorities and ensure Inuit voices are at the forefront of these efforts.
The Manager will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and supporting a team of Inuit researchers and fieldworkers, ensuring that community members with lived experience are central to the research process. This will contribute to the growing body of Inuit health research in urban contexts and across Canada. The incumbent will also build and maintain relationships with QNIHS partners, participate in working groups, sub-committees, and partnership meetings, and represent TI’s research priorities in collaborative spaces.
