We’re currently seeking an experienced CNC Operator to join our Custom Shop team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Primary Job Purpose
The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery to produce components in accordance with job orders, drawings, and required specifications. This role supports the Custom Shop by ensuring machining work is completed accurately, safely, and efficiently, while also contributing to routine equipment maintenance and quality control. The CNC Operator will also assist with cross-training and knowledge transfer to other team members to build broader CNC operating capabilities within the team.
Specific Responsibilities
• Study job orders and interpret blueprints to determine machining operations to be performed
• Set up and operate machine tools to perform repetitive machining operations, such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, planning, honing, broaching, grinding or other machining operations
• Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, callipers and other precision measuring instruments
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery
• Support in cross-training of CNC operation to other team members.
• Other duties as assigned by management. Requirements Skills Required – Technical
• Previous experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing, woodworking, millwork, or custom fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret job orders, drawings, measurements, and other technical specifications.
• Working knowledge of CNC machine operation, set-up, tooling, and basic programming or toolpath requirements. Skills Required – Non-Technical
• Ability to communicate well, both verbally and written.
• Ability to take and follow directions as given.
• Ability to work well individually, and as part of a team.
• Highly motivated, with a strong work ethic.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
• Ability and willingness to train and share knowledge. Education and Experience Required
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years previous CNC operation experience, preferably in woodworking, millwork or custom fabrication setting. Working Conditions
• Standing, bending, twisting.
• Making repetitive movements.
• Handling material manually.
Working Hours
& Location
• Monday to Friday, 07:00am
- 3:30pm (overtime as required)
• Located at 4619 6 Street NE Calgary, Alberta
