A leading food production facility in Surrey, BC is seeking a Lead Electrician to support electrical operations, guide a team of electricians, and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned industrial electrician with strong troubleshooting skills, project coordination experience, and a passion for mentoring others. About the Role The Lead Electrician is responsible for planning and coordinating electrical projects, overseeing installation and repair work, ensuring code compliance, and providing hands-on support for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. This role plays a key part in keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently in a high-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Electrical Leadership & Project Management Plan electrical projects, develop workflows, prepare material lists, and order supplies. Lead and supervise electricians and apprentices, ensuring all tasks meet quality and safety standards. Set priorities, assign work, and ensure deadlines are met. Installation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting Install, repair, assemble, and test electrical wiring, control devices, and related equipment. Troubleshoot complex electrical issues on production machinery, drives, PLCs, motors, and control panels. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime. Inspect electrical components, systems, and equipment to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance. Safety, Compliance & Documentation Ensure all electrical work complies with WorkSafeBC, CEC, and internal safety standards. Maintain accurate documentation, work records, and technical reports. Stay updated on electrical codes, technology advancements, and industry best practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with production, maintenance, contractors, and utility partners. Support continuous improvement and equipment optimization initiatives. Conduct site inspections and contribute to equipment upgrades and new installations. Required Qualifications Red Seal Industrial Electrician (mandatory) Strong experience with: Wiring & panel installation Motors, drives, transformers PLCs, controls, automation systems Electrical troubleshooting in industrial environments Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings Leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial setting Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Physically capable of lifting, climbing, working at heights, and confined spaces Class 5 Driver's License with a clean drivers abstract Preferred Assets Instrumentation knowledge Master Electrician certification Experience in refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems Background in food manufacturing, packaging, or processing environments Familiarity with SQF, CFIA, FDA, or similar quality/safety standards How to Apply If this role aligns with your experience and career goals, please apply with an updated resume in MS Word format.
