We are currently looking for a Head of Development to join our M Renewables team in Canada . This role manages two key development verticals: Business development and project development.
Business Development (M&A, partnerships, financial modeling) and Project Development (greenfielding,site control, permitting, environmental studies, interconnection, stakeholder relations, and regulatory matters).
Prepare pitch books / investment memoranda and presenting the transaction's investment thesis/rationale to theCountry Manager (Canada),the Regional Managing Director – North America,andMetlen'sinternal investment and risk committeesensuring clear communication of risks, opportunities,and strategic alignment.
Developand execute North American(focus on Canada)greenfield strategy to growrenewablesproject pipeline.
Ensure projects pipelinecontinuesadvancement of preconstruction activities on schedule, within budget, and with risks routinelyidentifiedand mitigated.
Provide guidance in negotiations and strategies with external parties (developers, PPA off-takers, co-investors, lenders, and government stakeholders) and internal stakeholders (EPC, PPA and Origination, O&M, Project Finance, Legal, and Treasury/Accounting teams).
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, local communities, developers, and investors to support project development strategy
Participate in project handoffs from Business Development to Project Development and Project Development to EPCteams.
Develop andmaintaininsightsonthe local renewable energy markets (regulations, trends, key players)
Minimum of10 years inthe power industry (preferably renewables)with experience ina similar senior management capacityoverseeingproject developmentand acquisition/investmentactivities
Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Economics / Business or related fields. MBA or master's degree in a numerate discipline would be a plus.
Experience managing acquisition due diligence processes and interfacing activities with internal SMEs (EPC, legal, tax, finance, project finance, etc)
Extensive knowledge ofNorth American renewable energy markets andutility-scale solar/wind/BESS project development including permitting, environmental, interconnection, regulatory, and stakeholder management.
Experience developing greenfield strategies for solar/wind/BESS in new markets for targeted project siting and forming standard operating procedures to standardize execution.
Extensive personal network ofrenewablesenergy industry participants in the Canada and/or US markets
Able to periodic regional travel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillswhile managing multiple projects in a fast pacedenvironment
Fluent English speaker. Working knowledge of Spanish and/or French is a plus
