Power data-informed student success decisions at the University of Waterloo through analytics, evaluation, and Power BI reporting. This is a full-time temporary contract.
The Data Analyst and Evaluation Specialist supports data infrastructure and insights within the Student Success Office - Faculty Relations. The work spans sourcing, consolidating, integrating, and analyzing student success data. You will support operational and strategic decision making across academic success, retention, advising, transition, and student experience initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain documentation supporting data practices and business continuity
- Develop Power BI dashboards, visualizations, reports, and analytical products
- Apply descriptive and inferential statistics to identify trends
- Lead discovery and requirements gathering with departmental teams
- Collaborate on student survey analysis and reporting
Requirements:
- Knowledge of university data systems, dictionaries, and distribution channels
- Understanding of privacy, confidentiality, and records management practices
- Ability to identify data anomalies and discrepancies
- Strong consultation skills and effective communication of findings
- Awareness of bias, privilege, and discrimination in data interpretation
