Build bedside nursing experience as a Clinical Nurse Extern with Unity Health Toronto in Toronto, supporting safe, quality patient care. Develop clinical skills under registered nursing supervision while working casual temporary shifts.
This Clinical Nurse Extern position supports Unity Health Toronto's academic health network and participating Ministry of Health program. You will work within interprofessional teams across programs including Pediatrics, Emergency, ICU, Surgery, and Women's Health. The assignment develops competencies through learning, education, experience, and reflective practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in patient assessments and activities of daily living
- Document observations and care in patient charts
- Assist with turning, transferring, transporting, and ambulating patients
- Support skin integrity, comfort measures, and patient safety
- Contribute patient information during transfer of accountability
Requirements:
- Qualifying nursing student or internationally educated nurse pathway
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate
- Excellent clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Infection prevention and control practices
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
