Scientist Location: B.C. Canada, Preferably in the Vancouver Area Reports to: Sr. Director, Scientific Services Function: Clinical About the Role As a Scientist, you will be crucial in aligning patients and treatments as part of our precision medicine programs. Your responsibilities will include patient identification review, clinical data evaluation, research on existing and developmental treatments for various diseases, and helping to develop and test alignment algorithms. This role is 100% remote Key Responsibilities ● You will work both independently and collaboratively to support our navigators, senior scientists, and clinicians in the following areas: ● Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of participant data to confirm eligibility and potential benefits from precision medicine programs ● Treatment Strategies: Collaborate with other scientists, clinicians, and navigators to create and deliver treatment strategies(reports) to patients and physicians as a report. ● Navigator and Patient Education: Communicate with navigators and other care team members to answer scientific questions and ensure a proper understanding of precision medicine and treatment strategies (including benefits, risks, and expectations) ● Diagnostic Test Support: Review diagnostic testing options and results and assist navigators in understanding the indications for and implications of diagnostic testing. Create disease and patient-specific diagnostic strategies. ● Clinical Trials: Review and curate clinical trials and research studies for eligible patients ● Data Management: Review and maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including genetic and clinical data (ensuring compliance with privacy regulations) ● Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patient needs, preferences, and concerns to ensure their voice is heard in the healthcare decision-making process ● Quality Assurance: Ensure that precision medicine services meet the highest quality standards and adhere to industry regulations Qualifications ● Doctorate in a clinically relevant area of study ● Scientific writing skills ● Excellent research skills ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams ● Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities ● Knowledge of medical ontologies and/or experience with medical claims is preferred ● A strong understanding of precision medicine principles, genetic testing, and genomic data interpretation is also preferred ● Keen ability to focus on process improvement Success Metrics ● Zero critical errors in treatment strategy or report content leading to misalignment with patient eligibility. ≥ 95% of reports meet internal peer-review and quality assurance standards on first submission. ● Average turnaround time ≤ 7 business days from receipt of complete patient data to delivery of final treatment strategy report. ● ≥ 90% of assigned patient cases completed within target timelines while maintaining quality. ● ≥ 95% of documentation updates (e.g., diagnostic recommendations, test reviews) completed within required timeframes. ● Response time ≤ 24 hours for navigator or clinician scientific inquiries. ● Active participation in interdisciplinary case discussions, contributing actionable insights in ≥ 90% of relevant reviews.
