This role works with the Gwich'in Tribal Council Health & Wellness Department to provide systems-focused support to frontline staff, rather than direct service to families.

The Navigator researches, organizes, and maintains up-to-date information on programs, services, and emerging opportunities, enabling staff to make timely, informed referrals. Grounded in Gwich'in values and children's inherent rights, the role ensures accurate, culturally grounded resource information is available to support the wellness, healing, and growth of Gwich'in children and youth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and maintain a current inventory of programs, services, and supports for children, youth, and families, including health, mental wellness, education, recreation, cultural programming, disability supports, respite, prevention, and housing-related services.

Monitor new, emerging, and time-limited opportunities at community, territorial, national, and international levels and share relevant information with Health & Wellness staff.

Support frontline staff by preparing service comparisons, resource summaries, and simple referral pathway guides for complex situations.

Build and maintain working relationships with service providers, agencies, Indigenous organizations, governments, and non-profits to obtain up-to-date program information.

Identify service gaps, access barriers, and emerging trends affecting children and youth and provide recommendations to inform program planning and development.

Maintain organized and confidential resource databases, tracking tools, briefing notes, and written summaries to support reporting, funding applications, and system improvement.

Prepare internal resource guides, updates, and briefing materials for the Health & Wellness team.
