This role focuses on tactical procurement activities and requires strong vendor management skills and attention to detail.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess purchase orders for routine materials such as steel, fasteners, and standard componentsTrack shipments and deliveries to ensure materials arrive on scheduleUpdate inventory management systems with delivery informationMonitor inventory levels to prevent stockoutsCoordinate with Production Managers & Logistics and Scheduling Manager to understand material requirementsMaintain relationships with established suppliers of standard materialsCommunicate with vendors regarding pricing, delivery issues, and quality concernsResolve routine problems with orders, deliveries, and product qualityCompare prices from different suppliers for standard materialsNegotiate pricing for standard items within established guidelinesProcess and verify invoices against purchase orders and receiptsMaintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and supplier communicationsGenerate standard procurement reports (e.g., open order reports, delivery performance)Document supplier quality issues and resolution actionsOther duties as assignedQualifications~3-5 years of relevant purchasing experience, ideally in construction or manufacturing.~ Post-secondary education in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is an asset.~ Experience with ERP systems and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.~ Strong negotiation skills with an understanding of their impact on project timelines and costs.~ Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.~ Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, production teams, and internal stakeholders.~ Proven experience in inventory control, ensuring materials are available without overstocking.~ A motivated, proactive individual who works effectively both independently and as part of a team.~ Demonstrates professionalism, honesty, and transparency in all procurement activities.Location, Hours of Work & Working ConditionsLocation: VaughanHours of Work: Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am to 3:00pmTravel: Occasional travel requiredPrimarily an office work environmentWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and group benefits package starting from day 1Group RRSP program with 100% employer matchEmployee discountsCompany events & teambuilding activitiesOngoing learning & development opportunities to help build the career you wantAwards for top performers and employee tenureA unique opportunity to build, grow and leave your impact on a multi-billion-dollar industryDynamic, informal and collaborative work environmentSteelcon is an equal opportunity employer and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.
