We have an excellent opportunity as a Product Analyst in our Ontario Mutual Automobile Plan (OMAP) department. OMAP is a department which provides product, underwriting, actuarial, regulatory, and systems support to a group of Ontario Mutual Insurance Association (OMIA) companies that underwrite automobile insurance in Ontario and have elected to do a common filing with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). This group of 30 mutual insurance companies writes a combined annual automobile insurance premium base of approximately $350M.

The Opportunity
The Product Analyst will report directly to the Manager, Underwriting and Product of the Ontario Mutual Automobile Plan (OMAP). The successful individual will be a pivotal member of the department, responsible for advising on product and underwriting for the Private Passenger Auto (PPA), Individually Rated Commercial Auto (IRCA) and Miscellaneous (MISC) lines of business.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule. In-office frequency is usually 2-3 days per month.

As The Successful Candidate, You Will

  • Participate in establishing and updating underwriting policies and procedures
  • Review (and amend) policy wordings, as needed
  • Research, evaluate and author underwriting rules and risk selection guidelines. Author supporting reference material as appropriate.
  • Research and develop new products
  • Proactively monitor external activities to identify potential legal/regulatory impacts and emerging issues which could impact products and profitability
  • Work as a key partner with stakeholders to provide underwriting and product support to the member mutual insurance companies we represent

Your Skills And Qualifications

  • A post-secondary education
  • A minimum of three years' experience with auto insurance; IRCA/Commercial Auto (including Garage) experience would be an asset
  • CIP designation preferred
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Strong decision-making and analytical skills to support long term profitable growth of a diverse book of business
  • Proficiency using spreadsheets and business intelligence tools
  • Previous experience in underwriting rural business, and working with agents and brokers, would be an asset
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Mutual Insurance community would be an asset

Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $68,015 to $85,019.

The actual salary will be determined based on factors including but not limited to, market conditions, relevant experience, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, qualifications, and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs to earn additional compensation. Incentive compensation is tied to established business and individual performance targets.
