This position will be based out of our Toronto Headquarters inLiberty Villageand offers ahybridwork schedule, 2-days a week work in-office, 3-days a week work from home.The Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs - Product Safety & Toxicology will be responsible for leading, recruiting, training, and managing theProduct Safetyteam that is responsible for theevaluationandregistrationof DECIEMfinished products. The successful candidate willmanagetheproduct safety programand be a resource in the evaluation of both individualraw materialand marketedfinished products.A background in toxicology is essential.The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team with diverse responsibilities. These includemanaging the regulatory requirementsfor Deciem'sraw materialswithinNorth Americaand for the finished productsglobally. They will be responsible for supporting all elements of this team and so a general understanding of regulations impacting both the sale and marketing of cosmetics, as well as the evaluation and registration of raw materials.WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLEReview literature data for individual ingredients and develop Margin of Safety Calculations and support and understand the calculation of exposure assessments for consumer products.Review and interpretation of systemic toxicity studies, review and interpretation of dermal toxicity studies and related endpoints and assessment of finished product testingPossess an in-depth understanding of the assessment of irritation and sensitization related endpoints to examine the impact of individual substances and formulated finished products and the review and interpretation of post-marketing surveillance dataResponsible for completing safety attestations for product in development prior to their progression into in vivo testing programs. Review of work conducted to support industrial chemical and environmental regulations (CEPA, AICIS, TSCA) and therefore, an understanding of environmental toxicity studiesResponsible for the regulatory review of raw materials and finished products to ensure with global cosmetics regulations or NHP/OTC regulations as applicable and responsible for the regulatory review of all documentation contained within the Product Information File for newly marketed products.Maintenance and update of the Product Information File for marketed products and completion and review of Annual Product Quality ReportsManagement of the team responsible for compliance with CEPA regulatory requirements for imported raw materials and similar programs (AICIS and REACh) for globally imported finished products.Responsible for managing the regulatory affairs component of New Product Development work which will require the ability to work collaboratively with departments to implement changes or new systemsResponsible for prioritizing and managing multiple, concurrent, and often global projects within the regulatory affairs team and responsible for communicating ingredient and finished product assessment results with external teams and ensuring that the impact of the assessment is well understoodResponsible for leading a team of risk assessors and mentoring and coaching staff to ensure their continued growth within areas of specialtySKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONEBachelor's degree in a related field (toxicology) is required with 10+ years of experience in safety and risk assessments5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs including direct experience in the submission and shepherding of product or ingredient registrations5+ years of leadership or management experience10+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, focus on Canadian, USA, and European Union regulatory schemesUnderstanding of the regulatory framework for cosmetics and personal care productsWHAT YOU'LL BE GAINING BY JOINING OUR TEAMThere's a lot of good stuff that comes along with being a DECIEM team member.
