About Us

Eston Nurture & Grow Childcare is a newly built non-profit child care centre bringing licensed and government subsidized child care to the town of Eston and surrounding area. We are licensed for 40 child care spaces for children aged 6 weeks – school aged children. Our hours of operation are 7:15am–5:45pm, Monday to Friday, with an expected opening date of January 2026.

We are looking for a Cook who will prepare nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for children in line with dietary guidelines and centre policies. This role includes menu planning, inventory management, food safety, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, along with occasional support for general building upkeep and cleaning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare healthy, well-balanced meals and snacks that meet child nutrition guidelines
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations including food preparation, storage, equipment maintenance, and inventory management
  • Work with the Director to develop menus and ensure timely ordering of food and kitchen supplies
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, following all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Participate in inspections and audits to ensure compliance with licensing and food safety requirements
  • Assist with general cleaning throughout the centre to support a healthy environment
  • Provide occasional classroom support during peak times or staff absences

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Experience in food preparation, preferably in childcare, school, or similar settings
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and child nutrition
  • Strong cooking skills and ability to maintain an organized kitchen
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • CPR-C and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening
