- Providing guidance when necessary to the Human Resources team on employment related compliance, risk management, and policy development
- Supporting corporate governance activities including board and shareholder resolutions, corporate records, and subsidiary filings (in coordination with external counsel)
- Monitoring regulatory developments relevant to the Company's operations and providing initial assessments and guidance
- Coordinating government affairs and policy engagement where appropriate
- Acting as the primary point of contact for external legal counsel, determining when matters should be handled internally versus externally
- Managing outside counsel scope, budgets, and outcomes to ensure cost-effective, value-aligned legal support
- Identifying legal risks early and recommending practical mitigation strategies that balance rigor with business reality
How your time will be organized:
- Commercial & Operational Legal Support (40%): Contract drafting and negotiation, commercial advisory, template and playbook development
- Corporate Governance & Legal Hygiene (20%): Corporate records, board materials, filings, audit and transaction readiness
- Outside Counsel Management (20%): Coordinating external firms, managing budgets, and ensuring efficient use of counsel
- Strategic Advisory, Regulatory & Risk Management (20%): Leadership advisory, regulatory monitoring, government affairs coordination, and early risk identification
- Employment & HR Legal (10%): Human Resources legal guidance and support with contractor agreements/arrangements
We are looking for candidates who have/are:

- Experience gained through a combination of: In-house legal roles and/or Law firm experience (associate or counsel level)
- Hold an active license with the Law Society of Ontario
- Strong working experience in drafting commercial contracts and being a leader in contract negotiations
- Experience with employment law is considered an asset
- Corporate governance and corporate record-keeping
- Comfortable operating as a hands on individual contributor in a growing organization
- Experience working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams
- Practical, business-oriented legal judgment
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, values-driven, creative environments
- Mindset that views legal as a guardrail and enabler, not a gatekeeper
