Plasmas Transfer Arc Welder to perform the full range of PTA welding operations while insuring quality of work performed meets customer expectations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Perform PTA Welding – Operate Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) welding equipment to apply wear-resistant coatings to downhole and oil sands tools.
• Interpret Blueprints & Specifications – Read and understand engineering drawings, work orders, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Prepare Workpieces – Clean, inspect, and preheat metal surfaces before applying PTA coatings to ensure proper adhesion and quality.
• Monitor Welding Process – Adjust parameters such as voltage, powder feed rate, and gas flow to maintain optimal weld quality and consistency.
• Conduct Quality Inspections – Use measuring tools and visual inspections to verify weld integrity, thickness, and adherence to industry standards.
• Perform Equipment Maintenance – Regularly inspect and maintain PTA welding machines, torches, and powder feeders to prevent downtime.
• Ensure Safety Compliance – Follow all safety protocols, including proper PPE use, ventilation requirements, and fire prevention measures.
• Work with Different Alloys – Handle a variety of hardfacing materials such as tungsten carbide, cobalt alloys, and nickel-based powders.
• Collaborate with Team – Communicate with machinists, supervisors, and quality control personnel to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results.
• Maintain Documentation – Accurately record welding parameters, material usage, and inspection results for quality assurance and traceability.
