The successful candidate for this position is responsible for ensuring that the area under his/her supervision fulfills the needs and goals of our quality, production and loss control systems in order to create a climate which leads to job security, improved working conditions and a world class position.

Job Responsibilities

  • The Area Manager promotes safe working practices in a safe and orderly environment. He/she meets and exceeds all legislated standards, and all standards procedures, rules and practices for loss control. He/she ensures that all aspects of the area under his/her supervision are in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
  • The Area Manager ensures consistent production of a quality product. He/she is responsible for communicating, executing and meeting all quality goals by following the approved systems set out and for contributing ideas for improvements to these systems where possible.
  • The Area Manager shall plan, organize and control the areas under his/her supervision to ensure that shift schedules, work schedules and standards for productivity and efficiency are met or exceeded.
  • The Area Manager promotes good housekeeping practices. He/she shall continually monitor and audit the area under his/her supervision to ensure that standards and practices are being met and exceeded.
  • The Area Manager shall plan, organize and control all activities in a cost-effective manner. He/she will work diligently to eliminate scrap, rework, interruption to process, waste of perishable goods and supplies (e.g. gloves) and ensure safe and productive use of our human resources.
  • The Area Manager shall administer the Collective Agreement in a fair and consistent manner with a view to ensuring stable, harmonious managerial control of the areas under his/her supervision.
  • The Area Manager shall ensure that all rules, regulations and standards are followed. He/she shall issue discipline to employees requiring correction to ensure that these rules, regulations and standards are adhered to. Discipline will be issued in a fair and consistent manner with the goal of correcting behaviours and not of issuing punitive penalties.
  • The Area Manager shall promote the goals and practices of continuous improvement by creating an environment where those under his/her supervision shall contribute ideas and suggestions. Employees must be made to realize that they are a valuable resource with valuable expertise about the work that they do, and that the sharing of this expertise will result in improvements to all aspects of the business and working environment.
  • The Area Manager shall ensure that all those under his/her supervision are customer responsive. This is understood to mean that employees are responsible for providing the best possible product and service to each other as well as to the ultimate customer.
  • The Area Manager shall be knowledgeable of and will follow al policies and procedures ad set out in the "Area Managers Handbook".
  • It is understood that the Area Managers will have access to confidential information regarding the operation of its customers and employees under their supervision and this information shall not be divulged to any improper persons without prior approval of Senior Management.

Job Requirements

  • Training and/or experience in production supervision. Strong organizational and communication skills, leadership / motivational ability, technical skills to meet job requirements.
