Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Recreation Therapist to enhance the quality of life for residents in senior living, assisted living, nursing homes, and hospice care settings. The ideal candidate will develop and implement engaging therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs, promoting physical, emotional, and social well-being. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and individuals requiring specialized care.
Responsibilities
- Design and facilitate therapeutic recreation programs that promote engagement, independence, and overall wellness for residents with diverse needs.
- Assess residents' interests, abilities, and limitations to create personalized activity plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate recreational activities into individual care plans, especially for residents with dementia or hospice needs.
- Collect and document data related to resident participation, progress, and outcomes to ensure quality care and compliance with regulations.
- Educate staff and family members on the benefits of recreational therapy and how to support residents' participation.
- Manage case documentation accurately while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with privacy standards.
- Assist in creating a welcoming environment that encourages social interaction and emotional expression among residents.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior care settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, or hospice environments.
- Knowledge of dementia care, hospice care principles, and senior-specific therapeutic activities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and case management practices related to elder care.
- Experience working with children is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong skills in data collection, documentation, and reporting related to therapeutic activities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage residents compassionately and effectively communicate with healthcare teams and families.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to providing exceptional resident-centered care.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 per year
