ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Regional Manager, Family Wellness, the Supervisor, Family Wellness ensures effective leadership and management of community social workers and administrative support staff responsible for a full range of essential programs and services, including child protection and family services. The Supervisor ensures compliance with professional standards, protocols, best practices, and supports the enhancement of appropriate linkages with staff as well as allied agencies and community organizations.
The Supervisor, Family Wellness' responsibilities include providing for and arranging support services to individuals and families, providing a liaison service at large in the community, and administering social services to aged and disabled clients. The Supervisor's role also includes participating in the department's management by advising on budget issues, preparing reports and file auditing in the Client Information System (CIS), administering files by maintaining program regulations ensuring office procedures are followed, and for the distribution and monitoring of case load and files. The Supervisor is required to be knowledgeable of all mandated programs areas and services, and all relevant legislation and policy.
QualificationsThe knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized degree in Social Work (BSW) along with (3) three years of related experience, which must include assisting, assessing, interviewing, counselling, and facilitating. One year supervisory experience is required. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets. This is a Position of Trust, and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
