About the Role:

Reporting to the Pharmacy Supervisor and Managing DVMs, this detail-oriented role is essential in supporting our veterinary team by ensuring the precise and timely preparation of prescriptions and the meticulous management of pharmacy stock. Success in this position requires not only a deep commitment to accuracy and organization, but also professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Schedule:

  • Full-time position
  • Varying shifts including at least two afternoon shifts per week, and alternating Saturdays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and package prescriptions as directed by veterinarians
  • Review prescriptions and provide usage instructions to clients
  • Be accountable and responsible for the technical aspects of both new and refill prescriptions (i.e., the correct patient, drug dosage form/route, dose, doctor)
  • Communicate with clients requesting prescriptions, food and OTC products
  • Manage inventory: order supplies, perform cycle counts, handle out-of-stock and expired items
  • Unpack and organize incoming food and medication orders
  • Process payments for pharmacy and food purchases
  • Assist with administrative tasks, microchip registrations, and post-surgical patient follow-ups
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Complete daily task lists and other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Pharmacy Technician Program in Ontario or equivalent education program, recognized by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proficient in computer systems and electronic record management
  • Must be adaptable, reliable, and maintain confidentiality
