The Bar Supervisor plays a key role in handling the day-to-day operations of the bar and staff. The Bar Supervisor works closely with the Food & Beverage Manager and Head Chef to bring seamlessness within all departments. RESPONSIBILITIES- Train all new employees and refresh returning staff on proper drink making techniques, sequence of service, restocking and cash out procedures.
- Manage all Bar staff. Work closely with General Manager to ensure company policies and standards are being met and exceeded.
- Order liquor and maintain stock in accordance with liquor handling policies and needs.
- Ensure venue is always presentable and ready for service.
- Perform Bartending duties when necessary, scheduled shifts required.
- Handle guest complaints according to provided guidelines. Visit guest tables consistently for quality checks while on property.
- Complete monthly inventory of retail/bar merchandise and liquor.
- Schedule and oversee off-site bar needs for catering events including: creating menus, liquor orders, staffing for service, set-up/tear-down, and returning excess liquor.
- Perform general administrative duties including; email communications with vendors and fellow Managers, generating and maintaining forms and reference documents, and attending monthly safety and general meetings.
- Generate and maintain forms in accordance with Disciplinary Action and Workplace Injuries in a prompt manner.
- Update beverage menu each season with new product available.
- Contribute effectively to a positive guest experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
- High school completion or equivalent certification.
- Prior bartending experience is required.
- Experience in leadership position(s) and bar operations; including management and inventory control, preferably in a hotel or member's club environment is desired.
- BARS Training/Certification an asset.
- Minimum age of 19 years is required to serve alcohol in the Yukon.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
- Must be able to legally work in Canada.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Must pose excellent customer service skills
- An intimate knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails is an asset, including recipes and techniques.
- Ability to respond to customer, employee, and vendor feedback and concerns in a friendly and understanding manner.
- Ability to prioritize work while maintaining attention to time constraints, working independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and take direction well.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while adapting to external influences.
- Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines, and safety standards, both at work and in housing (if applicable).
- Exceptional teamwork skills are required.
