Hourly Rate: $40–$50/hour (based on experience)
About Summit Life Education
Summit Life Education supports high school and international students in British Columbia to develop academic skills, communication confidence, and test-taking strategies through personalized instruction and long-term mentorship. We help students achieve their study goals and grow into capable, self-directed learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and structured IELTS preparation lessons tailored to students' individual goals and proficiency levels
- Focus on all four sections of the IELTS exam: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking
- Provide targeted feedback on writing tasks and speaking performance to help students improve their band scores
- Create or adapt practice materials, mock tests, and assignments based on IELTS standards
- Track student progress and adjust lesson plans as needed
- Offer guidance on time management, test strategies, and stress management during exam preparation
- Communicate clearly with students and parents regarding learning goals, performance, and scheduling
- (Optional) Support students with other academic or language skills if qualified
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field
- Minimum 1 year experience teaching or tutoring IELTS (in group or one-on-one settings)
- Familiarity with IELTS scoring system, exam formats (Academic & General), and marking criteria
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Patient, encouraging, and adaptable to students at different English proficiency levels
- Experience working with ESL or international students is highly preferred
- Proficiency with online teaching platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)
