Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto's subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Reporting to the Senior Manager I&IT Foundational Technology & Infrastructure, we are seeking Senior Developer to provide solutions for delivering and deploying Cloud Infrastructure reliably, dynamically, and securely by Infrastructure-as-Code and by developing and engineering relevant tooling, frameworks and products.

 


What will I be doing?
  • Accountable to design, develop and deploy solutions to support developers, operations, and other users e.g. Infrastructure-as-Code, integrations, tooling, frameworks and products for Cloud Infrastructure
  • Creates prototypes/proof-of-concept to demonstrate or validate designs.
  • Provides expertise and advice to stakeholders in integrating Cloud Infrastructure with overall solutions development and help with developing the integrations
  • Participate in the further development of Architecture practice. Drive the adoption of architecture's best practices, architecture processes and tools with the focus on Cloud Infrastructure
  • Leads the technical analysis, program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation, with full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming
  • Leads the development and support of applications as needed, either individually or as part of a team
  • Facilitate collaboration with other developers, product owners, product teams and designers to solve interesting and challenging problems through delivery of various analytics solutions
  • Provides subject matter expertise and consultation to senior management and officials on a range of issues, assists in interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data for evidence-based decision-making
  • Identifies, assesses, develops a full range of services, strategies associated with achieving business plans; develops and identifies and recommends changes as required to meet strategic objectives


What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Proficiency in developing applications and tools with programming and scripting languages – JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, SQL, Java, Python, etc.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Automating infrastructure with code and automation tools (Ansible and Terraform)
    • Designing, developing, maintaining and supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools such as Terraform Cloud, GitHub, Jira and Jenkins
    • Cloud IaaS and PaaS deployment in hyper scaler environments especially Azure
    • Virtualization and Containerization such as Kubernetes and Docker
    • Identity and access management such as Active Directory, Azure AD and Okta
    • Designing, developing, maintaining and supporting Cloud Infrastructure with high availability and disaster recovery capabilities that meet business continuity requirements
    • Integration/low-code platforms such as API gateway is an asset
  • Knowledge of networking such as LAN, WAN, Cloud networking, etc.
