You'll help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations.
Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate based on education and experience.
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
What You'll Do:
- Practice independently to perform age-appropriate health histories and physical examinations for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic tests based on patients' age-specific and clinical needs.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in accordance with best practices and scope of practice.
- Implement clinical interventions to support patients in regaining or maintaining physiologic stability, including serving in a first-assist role when required.
- Assist in the delivery of surgical care in compliance with facility, provincial, and federal regulations, and monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams by making appropriate referrals and facilitating informed decision-making for staff, patients, and families through education and communication.
- Demonstrate strong empathy, communication, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Provide clear, compassionate medical advice to patients and their families.
- Make evidence-based clinical decisions to support high-quality patient care.
- Advocate for patient safety, quality of care, and optimal health outcomes.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
- Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
- Successful completion of a Master's-level program.
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Professional Liability Insurance in place.
- 1–2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident), or hold a valid work permit for at least 12 months from the start date. Sponsorship is not available.
What's Next: Our hiring process is thorough and designed to ensure a strong mutual fit—both for you and for our organization. We are committed to fairness, equity, and diversity, and as such, candidates will have the opportunity to meet and engage with multiple members of our hiring team throughout the process.
The screening stage includes application questions and an initial video interview. Candidates who successfully advance to the selection stage may be invited to a live interview with a member of our Medical Affairs team, during which detailed information about the role will be shared. This stage also provides candidates with the opportunity to ask role-specific questions and make an informed decision about joining our team.
Appletree is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals. In support of this commitment, reasonable accommodations are available for candidates with disabilities throughout the recruitment and interview process. If you require an accommodation, please contact
