What you will do
The Attendant, Facilities is responsible for performing custodial duties, general maintenance tasks, and providing support within the library environment. This role includes monitoring the Central Library to ensure a safe space, as well as handling delivery responsibilities using the library van.
In this role you will:
- Complete minor repairs and basic maintenance as needed
- Conduct groundskeeping activities, including seasonal tasks such as snow shoveling and salting
- Perform cleaning duties, including vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and waste/recycling removal
- Respond to biohazard clean-up needs and assist with related documentation and reporting
- Provide delivery and receiving services using library vans
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies safely and efficiently
- Assist with the transport of items within and outside the building using carts or manual handling
- Act as a monitor for the Central Library and immediately report incidents or concerns regarding safety and unusual situations
- Open, close and secure the Central Library
- Assist with event logistics, including setup of audio/visual equipment, tables, and other requirements as needed
- Be required to frequently lift objects (35 kg)
What you bring
- High school diploma
- Valid G driver's license and good driving record
- 3-6 months of facilities-related experience
- Proven organizational skills
- Demonstrated teamwork
- Commitment to good customer service
- Effective communication and reporting skills
