Position Overview

Blue Grass Ltd. is seeking a creative, motivated, and experienced Home & Garden Décor Display Specialist & Garden Centre Supervisor to join our Garden Centre team. This hybrid role combines visual merchandising leadership with hands-on supervisory responsibilities, playing a key role in driving seasonal retail success.

You will lead the design and execution of visually compelling product displays, assist with sourcing and ordering retail products, and support daily Garden Centre operations. Working closely with the Garden Centre Manager and Purchaser, you will help ensure a welcoming, organized, and sales-driven retail environment while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising & Display

• Design, execute, and maintain creative, customer-focused product displays
• Plan and manage store layouts to optimize traffic flow and sales
• Lead seasonal product changeovers and promotional setups
• Maintain, refresh, and consolidate displays throughout the season

Supervision & Operations

• Assist with sourcing and ordering products for the retail sales division
• Supervise daily Garden Centre operations and support staff
• Guide receiving, unpacking, pricing, stocking, and merchandising of products
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with markdowns, promotions, and price changes
• Assist with staff scheduling during peak periods, weekends, and holidays

Customer Service

• Provide expert product knowledge and exceptional customer service
• Support staff with customer service standards, return policies, and warranties
• Assist customers with garden décor, supplies, and product selection

Store Standards

• Ensure the Garden Centre is clean, organized, safe, and visually appealing
• Accurately price, stock, and tag merchandise
• Maintain strong communication with management and team members

Qualifications & Skills

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in merchandising and stock management
• At least 3 years of experience in customer service
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in retail or garden centre environments preferred
• Experience with sourcing and ordering retail products is an asset

Skills

• Highly creative with a strong eye for visual merchandising and design
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support a retail team
• Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
• Comfortable using POS systems and computer-based tools
• Detail-oriented with the ability to identify customer needs and drive sales
• Fluent in English (additional languages an asset)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
