Role and Facility Information
Fraser Health Authority (FHA) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Otolaryngologist at Chilliwack General Hospital (CGH) in Chilliwack, BC. Applicants will be expected to provide general Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery services, including the care of pediatric patients.
The successful applicant will provide 1:5 regional on-call coverage at CGH and Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre (ARHCC). On-call coverage will be shared with the existing otolaryngologist at CGH and the three otolaryngologists at ARHCC. Three operating room days every four weeks will be available at CGH. If desired, time will also be available in Ambulatory Day Care for minor procedures under local anesthesia. Although not essential, an interest in otology would be beneficial. Subspecialty training is not required.
As a member of the Fraser Health medical staff, you will participate in the University of British Columbia (UBC) medical education program and are expected to apply for a clinical faculty appointment in the Division of Otolaryngology Surgery, UBC.
CGH is a 138-bed hospital, with 24 surgical beds and an 8 bed ICU. It is a teaching site for the University of British Columbia (UBC), with 8 medical students and 16 family practice residents annually. The hospital is supported by full-service general practitioners, as well as a large complement of Internal Medicine physicians with a variety of subspecialist interests. Other surgical specialties include general surgery, urology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Chilliwack is one of the fastest growing cities in BC, with a population of about 110,000, and located 1.5 hours from Vancouver and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). It is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and provides endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits, while also hosting a diverse and growing urban community.
Provisional license is acceptable for US board certified physicians.
