Job Description

As a Demand Planner at Doka Canada, you play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely ordering of materials essential for customer projects. You are responsible for managing material planning and availability in alignment with project forecasts. Your expertise and coordination efforts are vital to maintaining optimal stock levels and supporting the seamless operation of our supply chain.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Material Planning & Availability: Ensure material planning and availability as per project forecasts, coordinating with the Distribution Center and other Doka subsidiaries to meet customer needs and requirements on time and in full.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to manage orders for customized materials.
  • Order Processing: Manage material order processing, ensuring timely and accurate placement of orders and updating delivery dates in collaboration with the commercial department.
  • Sales & Operations Meetings: Attend Sales & Operations meetings to understand future requirements and forecasts from the sales team, ensuring alignment with material planning.
  • Stock Level Optimization: Monitor and optimize stock levels, including safety stock, to ensure availability at the lowest possible cost and inventory levels as per budget.
  • Sourcing Coordination: Coordinate sourcing activities with the Supply Planner and Head of Operations to avoid negative inventories and ensure timely material reservations for customer orders.
  • Engineering Coordination: Work with the Engineering team to find substitutions or alternate materials in case of shortages or long lead times.
  • Return Planning: Coordinate return planning from client job sites with other departments to maintain appropriate stock levels and avoid surplus materials.
  • Material Movement Monitoring: Proactively monitor all material movements, addressing and resolving any disputes or issues that arise during project periods.
  • Reporting & Period Closings: Adhere to reporting deadlines and support period closings (month and year-end), ensuring timely creation and approval of orders as per authority levels.
  • Logistics Management: Manage logistics requirements within the branch, coordinating transport and release of materials with other subsidiaries; Ensure that transport costs are optimized.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Take on other tasks and projects as assigned by the Head of Operations, actively participate in departmental meetings, and work effectively to reduce transport costs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply chain or Logistics. Commercial / Technical qualification is a plus;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction or similarly fast-paced environments, ideally involving seasonal or fluctuating material needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results with minimal supervision;
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Know-how and product knowledge (cost calculation, company accounts, inventory valuation, order processing, inventory and data management systems);
  • Substantial working knowledge of logistics processes and policies (material/yard/ transport logistics)
