Category Manager, Grocery

About the Role:
The Category Manager, Grocery will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to improve our cost structure, the quality of our products, the reliability of our supply chain, and will play a leading role in supporting innovation through new product development. You will oversee the management and optimization of our Grocery supply chain, own and develop our vendor relationships, lead initiatives to improve our ingredient quality, and continuously improve our end-to-end sourcing processes. As part of the Procurement team, you will play a key role in helping us deliver the best possible value to our customers.
You will:
- Refine and implement a sourcing and supply chain strategy for our grocery category that optimizes process, reduces risk, and improves our cost structure
- Build and maintain a strong supplier base that align with our company values; own relationships with our strategic suppliers, including performance management and innovation activities
- Leverage large internal datasets and industry benchmarks (including market, supplier, and SKU analysis) to drive continuous improvement, identify opportunities for cost reduction, and identify/implement best practices
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement, both internally and externally through data-driven reporting and effective project management to identify and drive opportunities for quality improvement and implement best practices
- Partner with our culinary team to prioritize and develop new products that deliver immediate and sustained benefit to the company and our customers
- Develop and mentor a team of indirect reports
- Be the subject matter expert in all things related to grocery procurement
- All other duties as assigned
At a minimum, you have:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain or related discipline
- 5+ years of related work experience, with supply chain, operations, management consulting or strategic sourcing background
- Strong knowledge and interest in strategic sourcing and continuous improvement processes
- Experience leading and developing a team of direct and indirect reports
- Analytical and a problem-solving expertise, using data to drive decisions. Strong Excel skills are a must
- The ability to influence, build and effectively communicate a strategic plan to stakeholders at all levels - ie. from buyers to the CEO
- Proactive, ambitious, and assertive: you take ownership of your work and think beyond the scope of a given assignment
