Job Description:
NOTE:
The start date for this position is September 2026. The length of the term is 12 months until August 2027.

Reporting, to the Manager, System Operations the successful candidate will work with network and infrastructure professionals to assist the team in centrally managing AltaLink's network systems which includes telecom, Energy Management System (EMS), and Operational Technology (OT) networks.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following activities which will be performed under the guidance of technical staff in OT Operations:
• Assist with the development of new and existing telecom standards, operational procedures and engineering drawings for all telecommunications and network equipment in the AltaLink networks
• Assist with the development of equipment operational setting sheets, technical guidelines, bulletins and Facility Acceptance documentation
• Assist with IP address assignment, equipment selection, programming, and field deployment
• Assist with firewall administration.
• Assist with the creation of network maps and assist Project Engineering with network expansion.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity and access issues as they arise
• Assist with server builds, application installations, troubleshooting and maintenance
• Interact with equipment vendors, corporate IT and network operations center resources
• Assist with Operations & Maintenance
• Support data centre processes and procedures
• Decommission data centre equipment following established processes, as necessary
• Update and maintain data centre documentation, diagrams, cable schedules, etc
• Ensure the accuracy of the data entered into models and databases
• Suggest improvements/additions to existing processes to increase their efficiency, reliability and effectiveness.

Requirements
Qualifications:

• A current Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering student who has completed two or more years of study at a recognized University
• Some understanding of telecommunication concepts related to operational networks.
• Preference will also be given to candidates who have focused some studies on Telecommunication Systems and IP network design and operation
• Working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work in a team environment and develop strong internal and external relationships
• Superior organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously
• Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes
• Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
