We are seeking a Chief Chemist for our Garson lab. Working within an ISO 17025 laboratory environment, the Chief Chemist will:

• Develop, evaluate, improve, customize and implement standard analytical methods (EPA, APHA etc.), instrumentation and processes
• Troubleshoot and optimize methods and equipment for increased efficiency and quality
• Oversee method audits
• Oversee method validations
• Direct, coordinate and train personnel in conducting test procedures and optimizing instrumentation
• Conduct analyses of an R&D nature as may be required and develop non-standard methods
• Collaborate with Lab Managers and Section Coordinators as required

The ideal candidate will possess a post-graduate degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry and have at least seven years industry experience working in a senior technical capacity within a lab setting. They will be familiar with the theory and operation of standard analytical instrumentation (e.g. GC/MS, ICP/MS, HPLC and spectrometric equipment).

This position requires critical thinking in the application of scientific rules and methodologies to troubleshoot, innovate and optimize chemical analytical procedures. It requires an ability to collaborate on efforts but also self-organize and manage timelines and projects in an independent manner. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent technical abilities in the field of analytical chemistry.
