Calgary, Alberta, Canada Italian Centre Shop Calgary Ltd Full time

Be part of something growing. Be part of something Italian Centre.

Spring 2026 marks the next exciting chapter for the Italian Centre Shop — the opening of our newest location on Calgary's North Side. To make it happen, we're searching for an HR professional who loves people, thrives on purpose, and gets fired up by the energy of building a brand-new team from the ground up.

Prior to the grand opening of our new Calgary North store, you'll be based at our Calgary South location (Fairmount Drive/Southland) — learning our culture, connecting with our leaders, and helping to recruit and onboard the opening team. Once the new store launches, your home base will shift to Calgary North, where you'll continue to grow the team and support day-to-day HR operations.

Long term, you'll play a key role supporting both Calgary stores, both in recruiting, general HR support and payroll, traveling between locations to strengthen consistency, culture, and connection across the city.

If you're the kind of person who lights up at a packed job fair, sees possibility in every résumé, and finds joy in connecting great people to meaningful work — this role was written for you.

The Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will be the heartbeat of our recruitment and engagement efforts as we prepare to open our newest store. You'll help attract, onboard, and inspire more than 120 new team members — from bakers to baristas, deli experts to department leads — shaping the culture from day one.

This role blends strategy and hustle: part recruiter, part coach, part culture-builder. You'll manage full-cycle recruitment, create memorable onboarding experiences, support leaders in building strong, connected teams, and ensure every action reflects our values of Respect, Growth, and Loyalty.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the mass recruitment campaign for our Calgary North opening — plan, post, screen, interview, and hire with heart.
  • Build community connections with schools, job boards, and local organizations to attract exceptional talent.
  • Design and deliver engaging onboarding experiences that make every new employee feel part of the family.
  • Coach leaders on people practices that strengthen teamwork, trust, and retention.
  • Support all HR functions including payroll, benefits, employee relations, and compliance — you're the glue that keeps people operations running smoothly.
  • Help shape programs that make the Italian Centre not just a place to work, but a place to belong.

Who You Are

  • A natural connector with at least 1 year of HR experience preferred, including full-cycle recruitment and employee engagement.
  • Someone who can juggle 50 openings, 5 job fairs, and 1 espresso in the same day — and still smile.
  • Experienced with HRIS or payroll systems (UKG experience a plus).
  • Known for your professionalism, discretion, and follow-through.
  • Passionate about culture, service, and helping teams grow.
  • A believer in the power of community — inside and outside the store.

Education: Diploma or degree in Human Resources or related field preferred. CHRP designation an asset.

What We Offer

  • The chance to shape a brand-new store and see your impact every day.
  • A dynamic, people-first culture that celebrates growth, learning, and hospitality.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for development.
  • A workplace that feels like family — rooted in community, tradition, and great food.
