Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced coating installer with specialized knowledge in industrial applications of epoxy, polyurethane, and, most importantly, polyurea systems. Experience with polyurethane spray-foam insulation is also considered a valuable asset.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in applying multi-layer coating and lining systems, including the ability to produce high-quality final finishes suitable for aesthetic and specification requirements. Familiarity with pipeline environments, tanks, and confined-space work is highly beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Install advanced industrial coating and lining systems, including epoxy, polyurethane, polyurea, and hybrid formulations.
- Perform accurate mixing, proportioning, and operation of plural-component equipment such as Graco Reactor units.
- Prepare concrete, steel, and composite substrates following proper surface-preparation standards (SSPC/NACE, ASTM, etc.).
- Apply primer, base, build, and finish coats with attention to coverage, thickness, cure times, and adhesion requirements.
- Execute final finish coats to meet aesthetic standards and client acceptance criteria.
- Conduct on-site quality checks, including DFT/WFT measurements, adhesion testing, surface profile verification, and system compatibility checks.
- Work safely within pipeline environments, shafts, vaults, tanks, and other confined-space locations.
- Maintain equipment, troubleshoot spray systems, and ensure consistent application quality.
- Collaborate with supervisors, inspectors, and project managers to meet production targets and deliver high-quality work.
- Comply with all job-site safety requirements, including respirator use, confined-space entry, and hot work protocols.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience installing industrial coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, polyurea).
- Demonstrated experience operating plural-component spray systems and airless sprayers.
- Strong understanding of surface-preparation methods (abrasive blasting, grinding, mechanical prep) and relevant standards.
- Proven ability to achieve consistent high-quality finishes on final coats.
- Experience working in pipeline, shaft, tank, or confined-space environments is a strong advantage.
- Ability to read and follow technical data sheets (TDS), safety data sheets (SDS), and application procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude for maintaining spray equipment and troubleshooting proportioning systems.
- Strong physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work in enclosed spaces, climb ladders, and perform tasks in industrial settings.
- Required or willingness to obtain certifications such as: Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, WHMIS, and Respirator Fit Testing.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites across the region.
