The QA Technician
provides independent routine quality checks on raw material, packaging, in-process materials, finished products, line monitoring and daily GMP practices to meet food safety and quality requirements.
- Monitor production lines and verify process parameters are followed.
- Monitor quality standards of finished products and make quality related decisions regarding compliance with company regulatory and certification standards
- Conduct shelf-life studies, analyze trends, and compile reports.
- Inspect
incoming raw materials and packaging. - Conduct daily, weekly, monthly or annual inspections including daily GMP, Glass & Brittle plastic, pest control management verification, and Site Security Checklist.
- Collect samples of finished products, ingredients, and surface swabs and send them to outside laboratory for microbiological, chemical and Allergen tests.
- Communicate with production and maintenance departments on various quality issues. Participate in resolving quality issues.
- Assist in investigating customer complaints and implementing necessary corrective actions.
- Hold and release materials physically and in the system
- Review and maintain all QA records and documents pertaining to HACCP, BRC, CFIA, etc.
- Review and participate in updating standard operating procedures.
- Update and submit documents for Organic ,Gluten-free ,kosher certification renewal and supplier management program.
- Lead and conduct annual product traceability.
- Conduct equipment inspection, recommend replacement and request calibration.
- Check Sanitation Concentration, chemical usage and maintain SDS
- Communicate changes that may affect quality and safety of products to the Production Supervisors and QA Supervisor/Manager.
- Report process deviation and product failure, assist in the investigation, and complete corrective action reports.
- Enforcement of hygiene, health and safety bakery rules, GMP practices.
- Participate in external audits and lead Internal Audits, QCI and HACCP team meetings.
- Coach and assist team members on GMP, Food safety culture HACCP ,Internal audits and Allergen training.
- Train and monitor the sanitation Team member's performance.
Skill, Experience and Other requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in food processing preferred
- Must be comfortable to work on rotating shifts (Morning & Afternoon only)
- Act independently
- Strong communication skills
- Familiar with HACCP policies
- LEAN manufacturing experience is an asset
- Computer Proficiency with Microsoft excel, power point and outlook.
Working Conditions
- A manufacturing, warehouse and office environment
- 8 hour shifts consisting of day, evening and weekend
- Must be flexible to work afternoon, night, or weekend shifts as needed.
- Moderate noise and temperature level
