Who are we looking for?

Natural Forces is seeking a candidate to fill a Senior Project Finance Analyst role to support our team members. This is a full-time position based at our head office in downtown Halifax. The Senior Project Finance Analyst will work cross-functionally with internal project teams. The primary responsibilities are:

  • Research and data gathering
  • Model/forecast building
  • Monitoring project performance, reporting and coordination throughout the project lifecycle

Key Tasks and Duties

Project Analysis

  • Prepare commercial analyses.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to assess funding needs, project development project financial viability, and potential risks. Prepare financial models and forecasts to support decision-making processes
  • Prepare estimates to support pricing, Project Management Agreements, Development Service Agreements and Asset Management Agreements.

Project Financial Reporting

  • Assist in implementing and training project teams on a forecasting/budgeting tool
  • Work closely with project teams to develop and maintain cost estimator tools to assist in the budgeting process
  • Monitor and report on budget performance, making recommendations for adjustments as needed.
  • Prepare project cashflow forecasts.
  • Complete project percentage of complete deferred revenue schedules that align with project reporting.

Project Finance Expertise

  • Subject matter expert on topics relevant to project finance, including project funding opportunities, processes, and timelines, project financial contracts, and finance team estimating tools and procedures.

Continuous Improvement Projects

  • Contribute to projects enabling the continuous improvement of Finance team tools and processes to support business growth

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, funding management, or a related role within a finance and accounting environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of project finance, funding instruments, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with project management principles and practices
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel, financial databases, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Experience using Sage Intacct is an advantage
