Associate Accountant

Essential Job Functions:

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with monthly and quarterly close, including performing bank reconciliations, posting quarterly expenses and allocation of overhead costs
  • Prepare closing results and analyze the Branch's financial performance
  • Scan and record documents and mail, including cheques, letters of credit, and invoices. Maintain the inventory of letters of credit and other forms of reinsurance collateral
  • Ensure proper coding of all Canadian accounts payable
  • Assist with the preparation of tax packages; assist in the preparation of the budget and the associated packages
  • Run and maintain reports, including the Trial Balance, adding new accounts as necessary
  • Forecast and calculate insurance premium tax and income tax
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors; gather audit evidence and answer inquiries from external auditors
  • Additional assignments/projects that may be assigned by the Senior Accountant or Controller

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, 0-2 years of experience
  • Enrolled in CPA program
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Workday Financial experience preferred 
  • Insurance experience a plus

Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000 CAD, depending on qualifications and experience
