The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for an Information Technology Summer Student to join our rapidly growing team.

The Town of New Tecumseth is offering a challenging and rewarding opportunity to build your IT knowledge and gain valuable experience during the summer of 2023. You will be part of a high-performance team providing quality technical support and solutions across the organization to deliver municipal services to residents and visitors. Your role will include project assignments, technical support, analysis and reporting across a wide range of technology and software.

You will report directly to the Supervisor, Technical Services, Information Technology, supporting the IT department to meet service delivery workplans. This will include supporting branch initiatives, performing analytical work and backfilling staff vacations.

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Support IT workplan initiatives, typically includes client-side equipment, software and cloud service deployments, directory services, information gathering and reporting.
  • Provide user support through troubleshooting, analysis, and remediation
  • Actively participate in technology meetings involving problem solving and solution development.
  • Related duties as assigned.

What you bring to the team:

  • Must be enrolled in a college or university and pursuing a diploma or degree in information technology or computer science.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an office environment deploying and supporting end user devices and software would be an asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of desktop operating systems and office productivity software.
  • Intellectually curious and eager to learn new things.
  • Problem solving ability required to analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Judgment is required to apply practice, escalate issues appropriately and manage changing priorities.

Wage Rate:
$20.05, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan

Hours:
35 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

Location:
Town Hall, 24 Tupper Street West, Alliston

Dates:
May 4 – August 28, 2026
